In a few places in his writings, Nietzsche talks about when life delivers us into the labyrinth, where the dreadful Minotaur lives where we can be “torn piecemeal.” It’s a terrible place. He experienced it often himself as he had terrible health problems, especially headaches, that would paralyze him for weeks at a time. His goal in the midst of it was to remain “the most cheerful and kindliest.” Easier said than done, but it sounds like Scott and you are doing your best in the midst of it one day at a time.

Being torn piecemeal by a Minotaur does sound like a terrible place. Thanks for your support

Oh Joyce, I did not realize that you had been through this, so thank you for this. Now I understand and care. I cared before but didn’t understand what you have been through.

Lew had a colonoscopy, his first ever, on a Saturday. (I learned that labs flag bad results so doctors will immediately read those). So we were with the doctor the next morning. Lew’s surgery was a week after the original colonoscopy. Lew made a full recovery and lived for many years. He did not die from cancer.

I believe that Scott will have a full recovery, so full that you may sometimes forget that Scott ever had cancer. That doesn’t mean that today isn’t horrible. It doesn’t mean that you aren’t frightened. It doesn’t mean that tomorrow will be better. It just means that you should have hope.

Oh Trudy. Thank you for that. It brought me to tears (not sad ones, ones of comfort)
